This document outlines player protection measures and safer gaming procedures at Elements Casino.

Elements Casino Responsible Gaming Policy

At Elements Casino, responsible gaming is treated as an operational standard. This document describes the measures, tools, and procedures that support safer play, protect vulnerable individuals, and address applicable Canadian gaming regulations.

This policy applies to all persons who access gaming services at Elements Casino locations. By participating in gaming activities, players acknowledge the terms set out in this document.

1. Commitment to Responsible Gaming

Elements Casino operates in line with responsible gaming standards recognized in Canada. The objective is to provide an environment in which gaming remains a form of entertainment and does not cause harm to individuals, families, or communities.

Excessive play is not encouraged. Individuals who have self-excluded or who have indicated a wish to limit their participation are not targeted. Staff receive training to recognize indicators of problem gambling and to respond in accordance with internal procedures.

2. Player Eligibility and Age Requirements

Access to gaming at Elements Casino is restricted to individuals who meet the minimum legal age requirement in the applicable province. In British Columbia, the minimum age to participate in casino gaming is 19 years.

Proof of age may be requested at any time. Individuals who cannot provide valid government-issued identification confirming they meet the applicable age requirement will be refused access to gaming areas.

3. Self-Exclusion Program

Self-exclusion is a voluntary program that allows individuals to restrict their own access to gaming. A self-excluded individual is prohibited from entering designated gaming areas for a defined period, as set out in the self-exclusion agreement.

3.1 How to Apply

Self-exclusion requests must be submitted in person at the casino. A staff member will guide the applicant through the process, which includes:

  • Completing a formal self-exclusion agreement
  • Providing a photograph for identification purposes

3.2 Duration

Self-exclusion is available for defined terms. Once a self-exclusion agreement is in effect, it cannot be reversed before the agreed term expires. Extensions of self-exclusion periods are available upon request.

3.3 Obligations During Self-Exclusion

Individuals under a self-exclusion agreement are prohibited from entering gaming areas at Elements Casino. Any winnings obtained during a period of active self-exclusion may be forfeited in accordance with applicable provincial regulations.

3.4 Breach of Self-Exclusion

If a self-excluded individual is identified on the premises, staff are required to ask the individual to leave. Repeated breaches may be referred to the relevant provincial gaming authority.

4. Player Tools and Limit-Setting

Elements Casino makes the following tools available, upon request or through designated player services, to assist players in managing their gaming activity:

  • Spend tracking - players may request information about their gaming activity to assist with personal budgeting.
  • Voluntary time limits - players may request assistance in setting time-based limits on their gaming sessions.
  • Cooling-off periods - players who wish to take a temporary break without entering into a full self-exclusion agreement may request a short-term restriction.

These tools are intended as support measures and do not replace self-exclusion for individuals who require a formal restriction from gaming.

5. Responsible Gaming Information Resources

Responsible gaming information is available at all Elements Casino locations. Printed materials, digital kiosks, and trained staff can direct players to appropriate resources.

6. Staff Training and Obligations

All Elements Casino staff who interact with players receive responsible gaming training as part of onboarding and ongoing professional development. Training includes:

  • Recognition of indicators of problem gambling
  • Procedures for appropriate intervention
  • Referral to external and internal support resources

Staff are not permitted to encourage a player to continue gaming if the player has expressed a desire to stop or has shown signs of distress. Staff are required to report concerns through internal channels and, where required, to the relevant provincial authority.

7. Minors

Individuals under the legal gaming age are not permitted in gaming areas under any circumstances. Minors are not permitted to participate in gaming activities, handle gaming equipment, or redeem gaming credits.

Any staff member who observes a minor in a gaming area is required to act immediately in accordance with the internal minor protection protocol.

8. Advertising and Marketing Standards

Gaming advertising and promotional communications are not directed toward:

  • Individuals who are self-excluded
  • Individuals who have requested removal from marketing lists
  • Individuals who are known to be minors

Players may request removal from all marketing communications at any time by contacting player services at their nearest Elements Casino location.

9. Problem Gambling Recognition

Problem gambling can affect individuals regardless of age, background, or experience. Common indicators may include:

  • Spending more money or time on gaming than intended
  • Borrowing money or selling possessions to fund gaming
  • Concealing gaming activity from family members or others
  • Experiencing distress, anxiety, or other negative impacts related to gaming outcomes

Individuals who experience any of these indicators, or who are concerned about someone else, are encouraged to contact a provincial support service. Elements Casino staff can provide referral information on request.

10. Contact and Complaints

Concerns or complaints related to responsible gaming practices at Elements Casino may be raised through the following channels:

  • In person at the player services desk at any Elements Casino location
  • In writing, addressed to the Responsible Gaming Coordinator at the relevant property
  • Through the British Columbia Lottery Corporation (BCLC) player complaint process, where applicable

Complaints will be acknowledged and reviewed in accordance with the internal complaint handling procedure. Where a complaint relates to a regulatory matter, it will be referred to the appropriate provincial authority.

11. Policy Review

This policy is reviewed on a regular basis to ensure consistency with applicable provincial regulations, industry standards, and guidance issued by recognized responsible gaming bodies in Canada, including the Responsible Gambling Council. Updates to this policy take effect upon publication.
